It says that it was to be presented in June of 2008...why are you people still signing it? Was it postponed to get more names? If so then I'll sign. If not, then I see no point.

Default Rights and Freedoms

Signed...and to the guy who posted that this has nothing to do with hunting/rifles....Our rights to own firearms have been steadily eroded over the years, costs increased to discourage us, in mant european countries you are allowed to own (1) gun hence the double caliber/barrel models,Our gov't as most gov'ts would love to see no citizens having firearms, historically a armed populace has the ability to resist the powers that be....they do not care about our protection only keeping us in our place, They removed prohibited ownership, next will be restricted...do you really think hunting rifles won't be next? I own many types of firearms and enjoy the sport of shooting/hunting/fishing.

Has the gov't looked into this yet? Do we have enough names on the petition yet?

Nice to see that someone here understands what's going on.

They're only "hunting" rifles for now in order to keep the majority of the 2,000,000 Canadian firearms owners asleep while while they get rid of the prohibs & restricted. Once that's been accomplished, the hunting rifle will start being referred to as a "high powered sniper rifle". The game is divide and conquer, and Canadian gun owners are falling for it hook, line, and sinker.

Does anyone know the current status of this petition?

As I mentioned before, it states that the petition was to be presented in june of 2008. If it was, then why are you people still signing it? If it wasn't, then when will it be presented?

Could it possibly be because the petition was presented a year and a half ago!

Is there a reason why a moderator hasn't taken this off of here?

It all sounds good until the handgun hunters want their own season, and the bowhunters won't share any of theirs with them, just like the crossbow set....

I'm against separate hunting seasons for any weapon I don't use.

sorry this is just stupid. Banning handguns will not do anything but motivate people more to buy illegal handguns. Honestly guys i love to shoot hand guns its fun. If i really wanted to kill someone i would do it with a rifle from far away are you going to ban rifles next. Dont turn canada into britain.

Am I reading this right, that people on here filled out a petition over a year ago, in suport of a handgun ban in Canada? I hate handguns too but giving up one of our freedoms is a step backwards people...

yeah some people arent very smart. They blame the weapon instead of the shooter. people always need something to blame its pathetic really. Many of the people who signed this are probably overzelous people who would rather blame an inatimate object that take actual fault.

Default For the record

This petition has LONG since been over, there are dates on the posts which indicate when they were started, good to look at. To any of you who think that this link lead to a petition to ban handguns, breath deep and think about it.... would the mods of an outdoorsmen site "sticky" that in a forum??? I think not.

The link was for a petition against banning handguns. Hence in bold red lettering if you open the thread and read the original post"Anti Hand Gun Ban Petition", but why read that part.

So hopefully this brings a few peoples blood pressure down.... and keeps any further ridiculous pm's out of my inbox.
