Default handguns

Why does anyone need a handgun??? You can't hunt with them.

Sorry guys, just testing my gag reflex. Just about choked on that.

AR 15 should be included as well.

Sorry, I haven't signed your petition yet. I believe in handgun ownership, but don't support handgun hunting. I know that this will open a can of worms, I'm sorry, I am on your side....partially. Just my own thaughts, hope not to make adversaries here.

"The purpose of this online petition is to join together and call on the Canadian government to recognize the right of citizens to legally possess firearms, handguns inclusive. This petition will be presented on Parliament Hill in June, 2008."

I think that meets the requirements for your partial support does it not?

RUM, I've gone back and read the petition carefully, and you are right. Yes it falls within my personal believes, I have signed on. At first, I didn't proceed the information correctly and decided to abstain, but after your "heads up", I decided to support. Thanks for clearing it up for me.

Handgun hunting is no different than any other hunting, you just need to get real close, just like bowhunting, and you have to practice shooting enough to make the shot count. An ethical hunter is an ethical hunter. Either you are 1 or not, it matters not what you shoot, rifle , handgun, bow, shotgun.
In any hunting situation you will find clowns that will push the envelope, but mostly seroius sportsmen who are devoted to humane hunting techniques.
Personally I am not a supporter of bow hunting or catch and release fishing. I know there are a majority of bow hunters who are proficient and do make clean kills, but evey year I find several carcasses on my propery that have arrows in them that have not been killed cleanly, or tracked properly. I also know that the majority of C&R fisherman do all they can to ensure the fishes survival, yet every year I find many dead fish in my canals.
Would I support any restriction for archery equipment or C&R fishing? NO as it is my belief that it is wrong for any government to encroach on matters that do not effect how the country runs, and these are issues that do not.

My grandfather carried a pistol while trapping for over 30 years, and yes it did help a couple of deer find their way into the mason jars.

Looks like a handy method for dealing with halibut at the back of the boat too. Though I don't see much value in a 9mm other than punching holes in paper.

The USA has pistol hunting in some states. I'd like to see it added here as well too. I'd definelty buy my tags.

Banning is something that stupid, unimaginative and un-motivated politicians do when they have reached the depths of their incompitinence. Typical for Toronto, Center of the universe. Gag response here.
The crims and murderers in TO are not trained, law abiding people and why should the 99.9% of everyone else that enjoy firearms be penalized? Because stupid politicians are not willing or able to go after the bad guys and not the good ones.
