Oh and the phone number opens at 8:30. So start redialing at 8:29 until it answers. You'll be in the beginning of the queue. My phone call was only a few minutes.

Good luck everyone!

I did that and they wouldn’t do anything, depends who you get I guess.

I’ve tried the Alberta CFO ext# probably over 100 times, I believe the extension number is 9026, but don’t quote me on that, good luck getting through!

I've had a transfer started on July12 anybody hear what happens if they pass legislation before all the transfers are completed?
Would be a real mess if they cancelled the transfers in progress

My son bought a restricted on July 5 from a dealer. He finally has a reference number. It’s been awhile since I bought a restricted so I’m wondering if he still needs to call the cfo to complete the transfer or if it’s just a matter of sitting and waiting.

Apparently once it’s started they will honor the completion.

Sit and wait, when you get the transfer it allows you to take possession and take it to your residence. Then you wait for the actual registration. You have to get a ATT if you want to take the firearm anywhere other than from your house to the range. Including a gunsmith or a retailer if you want to sell or consign it.

Further to what Lefty said, I grabbed a screenshot from a CBC article a friend forwarded to me (pretty much the only way I see that rag is if someone forwards something to me). Just a confirmation of what Lefty said. I had a copy of the proposed legislation but darned if I can find it at the moment. I may have flushed it where it belongs.

Since the legislation has not come into effect, and still has to go to committee, 3rd reading and Senate, there is still a window to initiate and complete transfers prior to it being passed. Even if the transfer is not approved prior to this legislation coming into effect, the wording says that it will still be completed (transfer approved, or not, as the case may be).

I bought a pistol on July 22 and received my paperwork for transfer on Friday.
I sure hope when the grownups get in office they fix this mess.

Over 300k public service jobs added in Canada during pandemic, adding absolutely nothing to Canada's GDP, costing the taxpayers a fortune, and services have declined dramatically. If gross incompetence was an Olympic event, this goverment would take Gold.

I like math, for reference, that is $23.4 billion dollars a year if the average salary is $78k/year (Google says its $78,413.00).

You can easily double that value, once benefits, pensions etc. are calculated.

$50 Billion give or take.

That’s typical Turdeau: giving us excellent value for our money! I am waiting three-four times as long as usual for my two month overdue passport renewal (and can’t get any response to attempts to track it) and I am awaiting two restricted registrations that formerly took a day or two and are now at 11 weeks…

There must be a better medal than gold- platinum perhaps?

For perspective right now, I purchased a pistol at a retailer July 6th. Still nothing to-date.

I bought a Kimber Pro Carry for my son June 19th, his first handgun, transfer was initiated I believe on the 21st, and the transfer just came through today. But, it came through.

Spent hours and hours on phone in June [like many others] to finally talk to a human and got my reference # June 29th for a sale . No transfer to-date.....90 days.
Phoned my MP. They emailed me a "General Inquiry Authorization form" requesting to fill in info and pic of drivers License. They promised to check status on my transfer with Ab CFO. I sent it to them yesterday. Today i recv'd an email back at 9:13 from my MP. Amazing how they got thru so fast . The AB CFO's office basically shed a bit of light where transfers stand at this time.
" Your application was recv'd 2022-06-29 and we are currently working on applications received prior to 2022-06-21 " [ how far prior ??]
"Please let us know if you have no action on the application in the next month"
Yah....ok

A fellow from a gun shop said they are still waiting on transfers for stuff sold in June.

Pretty discouraging how inefficient the system is.

Soon after the announcement it seemed like there was a huge push to buy, I bet after the June eysh, things will start moving quicker, as this is probably when they did the most sales! Im more than likely just trying to convince myself of this as I’m waiting for a transfer to push through also!
