Has anyone recently transferred firearms from a deceased parent?
My father passed away 4 weeks ago. He has a number of non-restricted firearms and I would like to take possession of them. His PAL was good until next year. My RPAL is good for two more years. His Will states that I am his Personal Representative, Executor and Trustee. What would be the best or proper course of action I need to take? Has anyone dealt with this scenario recently as I am looking for advice. Thank you.

if everything is as presented, go to his house, pick them up, and take them home. done deal......as long as you're not in conflict with any brothers or sister, though sounds like that's under control too.
there is no requirement to register or document transfer of long guns.

Legally, you have to do as Stinky Buffalo said. In reality, if all the guns were purchased before May of this year who is to say that he be wasn't just storing them for you. The only concern would be siblings who may also have guns there.

I believe when my grandfather passed, we divided up his non restricted firearms among licensed owners in the family and it was done.
I think a lot of people do it like this and don’t bother looking into anything further.

Gets a lot harder when there has been a sudden death and the RCMP take all the firearms for safekeeping
