Late today actually talked to someone at the cfc in NB. I haven't called that often but was surprised to get through, 20 minute wait. Maybe cause it was late in the day?

I submitted on July 7 restricted transfer form to the firearms centre via email. They told me that the were done their part on August 8 and sent it on to the Alberta CFO where it's been waiting in the queue. She told me there has not been any request for any additional information so it's just in the queue. Hoping any day now.

So, give or take, seems like the average is around that 100 day mark.

My application was filed July 6th, think that's 115 also, if I counted right (ran out of toes). I have heard crickets.

I managed to find the Alberta CFO. I just went to K Division RCMP office in Edmonton and told officers at front desk 'I need to report a missing person" They had a chuckle and gave me one of her business cards. Got my approval in 2 days.

How long do you folks think it will take to get this done? Also, does anyone think that long guns will be banned like hand guns are about to?
Thanks for your anticipated answers.
I called the CFO on Tuesday the 8th of Nov. and they approved it right there while I was on the phone. Then I was to wait for it to come in the mail. Well, it's been 3 weeks and I thought I'd call them to see why I haven't received it yet. I was told it's still up for printing and that they only print the PAL a couple times per week plus the printer was broken as well. So I offered to order a new one from Amazon and have it delivered to their office. I guess that wasn't funny. Anyway, once they have it made and printed, she said it will take at least 2 weeks in the mail. So, over 7 months to get this done.

What the H is going on here? I'm frustrated.

Here’s the new baby. Showed up a week after the paperwork was processed , got it to the range on Wednesday for its first 100 rounds. It is a treat!

Was this a new application that you did or was it a renewal application. I can't believe it went so quickly (I use the term loosely) for you. I am glad someone received their PAL. At least now I know it's not just fiction.

Sorry buddy either your mistaken or I wasn’t clear enough, I thought this thread was for wait times on processing of new restricted transfers for handguns basically. My RPAL originally took around 3 Months maybe a year ago now. If you see the photo I attached it shows the new handgun i got. Good luck with your application you can track it online you know. And I called them more than a few times when I first applied for my RPAL

I sold a very nice fellow a handgun August 12th. We are both still waiting for confirmation of transfer. He would like his new toy and I would like it out of my safe!

I ordered 2 in June and the paperwork for those actually came through relatively quick considering everything. I did place another order on August 25 however. That one I just got the paperwork for on Dec 22.

Thanks to those that posted the phone numbers earlier in this thread.

I was able to follow up today on a purchase made August 3rd, and the transfer was approved yesterday. A few days over 5 months!

I bought one on Sept 9, paperwork started that day and today, I finally received my transfer notification. 4 1/2 months or 141 days or 100 business days minus stats ( I think there was 5 but maybe more with the government ) so say close to 95 business days...
Those that are still waiting keep your chin up and think positive. The transfers are still going through..... however at a incredibly slow rate IMO, but here's hoping that everyone gets theirs soon .

Default Paper Transfer

My spouse and I wanted to trade registered ownership for a couple of restricted handguns we both preferred that the other had.

Normally we are both at the same range at the same time so it didn't really present any legal problems or hassles.

So back in late July we sent off, via registered mail, Form 5492e-Paper Transfer applications for each firearm.

Late last week we both received the Transfer Notifications, just waiting for the Registration Certificates.

So that took about 6 months. I was actually expecting it not to go through.

Received notification last Wednesday (25th) that the transfer was authorized. The gun is now in Canada Post’s system. Thank goodness the buyer is a patient man.

You said it. Lots of patience required these last number of months.
