Default 2015 Season

Just signed up today for this site, since 2015 is upon us and I`m stuck killing time.

Fairly new to the Calgary area (2 years). I`ve had to re-adjust my fly box accordingly. Rough go at it the first season. But getting way smoother at catching them. Lost all my flies so here I am rebuilding my flies. Any suggestions on great flies would be nice. I fish from Highwood up to Red Deer if that helps

So far....

Dry flies:
-Elk hair caddis
-BWO
-PMD
-Adams
-Light Cahill
-Stimmulator

Nymph:
-GR Hares ear
-Pheasant tail
-Copper John

Streamers:
-Wooly Bugger
-Gray Ghost
-Light Spruce

Some good go-to flies there...

Might want to add the San Juan Worm.

Just my 2 cents.

March Browns
Green and brown drakes
Irresistible Adams
Some hopper patterns and other terrestrials
Midges and gnats
X 2 on the prince nymphs as well as a bunch of Kaufman stones
Muddler minows
Bow river buggers
A few zonkers for the bull trout

The list goes on. I've run out of places to put them all I think...

Solid list! I would add three more though: evil weevil, sex dungeon, and articulated ice pick. There are obviously way more, but looks like you have a ton of stuff to tie as it is!

I like to keep it simple...that's getting to be a long list!

Thanks for the reply, I don`t normally carry all of these with me. I would`nt say I`m a fly collector, but I do like to have a limited solid selection. Being new to a region is nice to get feedback from locals on what works in the area.

I`ll have to check up on some of these, I`ve tried the sex dungeon one last for about 2 weeks straight...I`d put it on for a couple hours a day with no success ever. Maybe I dont know how to fish it. Only tried it on the bow on fast moving water so I`d mostly just swing at times and others I`d move it up stream with a jigging motion
