CaberToser 100% he is the go to plumbing guy on here.

I only know him from the forum but I know he is very knowledgeable and helpful.

Honest? I've never met the guy in person but I would lend him my truck or my dog without a second thought...

That reminds me of a few things I had happen to me and my properties over the year during construction or renovations ..... here's some highlights ....

- The electricians bashed my heating duct run to the point of constricting it to less than half it's size to make room for two pot light cans running in the same joist cavity

- dry wallers covered electrical boxes, pot lights and even, get this, my fireplace insert !!!! worse yet, the taper came by and tape it all - get in, get out, nobody cares when the building industry is booming.

- I paid to have a 10ft ceiling in basement, to achieve more light and more head room, gas fitter came in and ran gas line to BBQ under the joists across entire basement having the line suspended down about 6" below bottom of joist.

- plumber hacked literally 3/4 of a double 14" microlam joist supporting the entire center line (main carrying beam) of house

- Upstairs laundry room drain was hacked to make room for new air duct - guess how we found out about that one, washer spilled, water into drain and then raining in kitchen through pot lights ..... yikes

- Upstairs laundry room exhausted dryer into wall cavity with air return

- bathroom fan exhausts to ceiling cavity x3 in a home I bought - not even an attempt to exhaust it elsewhere (in 2 cases the fix was super easy).

- doors (hinges) installed with small drywall screws

- windows so out of plumb they wouldn't open

One good reason to always avoid the low bidders EZM

I had one client who had all manner of things wrong with his house done previously by obviously shady contractors. The thing is, the issues were all over the place and of varying age. When I found out he got the house from his Dad as a wedding gift and then his generous Dad tried to pay me for his son's bill (but only 70% of it, this after working his way up from his 50% offer on my $10K bill ), I then realized there is a two-way street with the bad contractors. Sometimes its just as much the fault of the excessively penny-pinching customer who is willing to cut corners getting exactly what they paid for. Some people beeline for those false savings. That character got himself onto my extremely short do-not-work-for list.

If the price is too good to be true, it likely is.

I've only met cabertosser once, at a plumbing show, and the guy gave me both of his drink tickets.
He is my favorite plumber in Calgary.

Hehe, I recall meeting but forgot about the drink ticket thing. I had to drive so at least they went to a good home

Most homeowners have no idea where to turn when they need their plumbing fixed. We hired someone a few years ago, based on online reviews, and it turned out to be a nightmare. Just two days after those guys left the leaks returned. We called them for the following two months but we never saw them again. They are not low cost low quality, just very bad trade people.
