Default AR Style Shotguns?

I'm looking into purchasing an AR style shotgun and I am trying find first hand info on them. Brands like the Axor, Derya, Alphaarms, ect.

How do they shot?
Are they reliable?
Can they be choked to be useful for bird hunting?
General thoughts?

Thanks

The AR style layout makes them a poor choice for wing shooting. You can't look along the barrel because of the raised handle.

Obviously, nobody would buy an AR shotgun for hunting, but wouldn't it be a reatricted firearm anyways?

They only look similar to an AR, they aren't really an AR, and most aren't restricted.

I'm a pretty hardcore gun enthusiast and was not aware that these even existed.

Seems like one of the oddest weapons to create and market.

Free country I guess...and sorry for the derail.

They aren’t “AR” style, they are just tactical with m-lok handguards

Seems like AR style to me, right down to a detachable mag pinned to 5 rounds.

Don’t buy new, resale appears to be awful.

I have an AXOR MF-1. It shoots good enough. It is pretty reliable with heavy target loads. It is threaded for chokes.

The handle is removable and there is a rail under it to mount an optic. I had a red dot on mine.

I bought it for 3gun but only used it for one match. Carrying around 6 or 7 of those big mags was a bit too much for me. I also found that in the heat of the moment I jammed the mags in too far and jammed the gun up. There are only small indents on the mags to stop them and it's pretty easy to ram them up into the bolt. It was a bit of a disaster for me LOL.

I found the mag loading was no advantage for me and I shot a lot better with a Browning A5.

If you are in the Edmonton area you can take it out for a test drive if you want. I would probably sell it pretty cheap.

I see these being used twice, then gathering dust in the safe

After shooting some zombie targets a couple of times, and realizing how impractical they are for hunting or clays, that is likely quite common.

The market seems to be the people playing video games and shooting zombie targets, but even they usually see the limitations of these shotguns, and then move n to something more practical.

Your dislike for anything not in your wheelhouse is extremely annoying.

I find all guns interesting

I find most firearms interesting to a point, but I don't find them all interesting enough to spend my money on. However, I will be the first one to support you being able to own these firearms, even if I don't have a use for them.

Now if everyone thought like this gunowners would be a force to be reckoned with politically in Canada. None of this 'you can't hunt with a handgun so why sell them' (same with the AR) or 'you can only take one shot at a time so you don't need more than a bolt action'.
Sorry for the de-rail.

So what your saying is I shouldn't buy one of these to pair with my face paint, web gear and gillies suit while grouse hunting in 936........

This style of shotgun is one that was mentioned in the SECU meeting, by John Hipwell, in his statement about FRT issuances and how the RCMP took 5 yrs to reclassify them to non restricted, took from 2010 to 2015 to get it fixed, same action as a number of others that were non-restricted, different style.
