Default another fish finder/sonar quesiton..

So I found that in looking into fish finders I see some have the traditional black pixels which I am not interested in. Others have colour pixels which help with water temp, bottom type etc.. And then I find another type which has almost a picture...

I found this model which shows the both the colour pixels and also the picture type.. http://www.cabelas.ca/product/37078/...i-di-gps-combo

What are the benifits of the picture type screens? like the type the model I list has..

That would be down imaging. the sonar interprets the signals and paints a picture for you. Reg sonar 2d. You interpret what you see, yourself. i still like 2d for seeing fish(my opinion). But both have their good points.

Some have both capabilities. 2D, DI and SI(side imaging). Some allow for overlaying one on the other(2D and SI).

The more you look the more you will want....
I started at a 600$ max price,I'm gonna probably buy close to a 900$ unit tomorrow at Bass Pro.
I cannot justify any more than that....
Edit...
The Humminbird 598 si I want has a $100 rebate now so I consider it a great deal.
$799 on line,a bit more at the store.
