Default The last days of grouse

We took advantage of the warm weather to get out to McLean Creek for some grouse last week. Fortunate to take a couple of bunnies in the process.

See you in the fall ruffies!

Are those Spruce Grouse? I was going to say blues, but I don't see a pale band on the male. I've only ever found ruffies in that area in the winter, but lots of blues in the summer. I don't think I've ever seen Spruce in there.

Both are ruffies. One had next to zero tail feathers which was odd.

She stayed home this day. I have brought her out a few other times. She is still waiting to flush her first birds. 2019 will be her year

Yeah they do look like spruce upon looking further. Not my birds. Friend shot em. I was the bunny shooter. I just looked at the band on the tail and assumed. I'll ask the colour of the meat.
