Default What to do with shot gophers

Hey all! I came across a farmland area with plenty of gophers. I’ve never hunted them before, and I want to start doing that, but to my understanding, hunted games cannot be wasted (must be cooked? Is my understanding). Does that apply to gophers as well? If so, what recipes do you all follow? Or, are you allowed to leave them in the field because they are pests? TIA!!

You consider gophers a game animal ?? What gun are you hunting them with ? Have you told the farmer your stance on gophers as a game animal ?

Thinly sliced with a bit of wasabi. Mmmmm mmmm. Prairie sashimi. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Don't forget the Chardonnay.

Pests, on private land just shoot them and let nature absorb them. Pretty sure the same goes for Crown land.

The recipes are endless. Anything you can do with chicken you can do with gopher. Just make sure to stay away from the scent glands on the back legs with your knife, especially if they are in the rut.

They are really ground squirrels, so use a squirrel recipe.

The regs also say you can't waste the hide of a fur bearing animal, so make sure you skin them all, and have them tanned.

One of those threads, haha.

Just leave them where you shoot them, OP. They aren’t game animals.

Collect them all and freeze them, then use them in your bear bait barrel

Your wasting a lot of prime meat.

The way I see it is post a serious question get a serious answer. Post a ridiculous question expect ridiculous answers.

Just like grouse hunting keep it to head shots only. Lots of fantastic rotisserie possibilities.......... I just can't......

Leave them where they die and it will all work out.
