Default Big cat rehabilitation

Hi everyone. Hope you are all well!!

I just have a few questions i don't know if anyone can answer.

Does anyone know of a big cat rehabilitation centre in alberta (cougers, lynx etc) and/or a bear rehabilitation centre?

Also, does anyone know if in alberta you need to be a certified wildlife rehabilitator by taking an exam like in Ontario?

Odd questions i know, but normal is boring haha

Medicine river wildlife centre ?? But I doubt it.

Worth a phone call maybe. They seem more content on rehabilitating crows and magpies, however.

Goodluck.

The Cochrane Wildlife Center has a couple young bears hibernating there. Probable has facilities to handle large animals. There would some requirements, documentation/licencing, and ability to be able to supply a rehab service.

Almost 40 years ago the local F&W officer used to bring me a few injured birds of prey to care for because there weren't any rehab centers. I had an makeshift aviary/coop in the my hayloft in the big barn.

The thing with the wild cats is if they are "rehabbed" when they are younger they can't be released into the wild. They become too humanized.

Alberta doesn't allow the rehab of big cats, the place in Cochrane is the only one in Alberta that has a license for bear rehab.
