Default Monthly subscriptions for knives or lures . Worth trying out or no?

Hey guys,

I’ve come across monthly subscriptions for knives or lures, where one pays a monthly fee and is sent a mystery box every month with different items in them.

Such as
https://www.knifebox.com

https://monthlyknifeclub.com

https://shopkarls.com/mtb

Anyone here who may have tried something like this before?
What are other examples of these clubs someone has tried?
What kind of stuff do you actually get?

Is it worth it?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys.

Just by looking at the knives in past boxes, they’re mediocre steel. They look fancy but you could do better by saving your money and buying one or two high quality knives that serve the purposes that you need.

You are probably going to get a lot of mediocre or junk knives. And it's all a mystery what you're going to get.
I am a long time knife collector , with much experience. You want a knife ? Just research and buy it yourself.

Another thought to consider is that there’s a good chance the package will be inspected by cbsa and anything they deem one handed opening will be confiscated

Definately not worth, well unless your blown away by the quality of gas station knives!
Like HIWA said if you want a good quality knife research first, warrior and wonders has the best selection in Canada, bushcraft Canada has the best prices I've found for falknivens, camouflage has some pretty good prices, but lots of junk if you don't know what you're looking at and blade HQ in the states which is vast like ww but even more so, but American.

Remember the old "Columbia Record and Tape Club" from when you were a kid?

This just sounds like a bigger and more expensive scam. If you don't return the offering almost the same day, you buy it - and they capitalize on your forgetfulness.

One more vote for no way in hell would I sign up for one of these. There are lots of very reputable places selling great knives. Buy one a month if you want but you do the picking, that way you get the style, quality and type of knife you want.

Just to add, if you Google these places you will find a TON of complaints about them, mostly about continuing to charge your credit card after you have tried to cancel.

these are cool but don't think I would try. knifes are a bit more personal and the collectors value of random knives is questionable.

I’ve tried the lure boxes. Almost never get anything I want to use. Total waste of money.
