Little excitement
RCMP are looking for an armed man who fled into the bush carrying a hunting rifle following a vehicle collision on Highway 43 in northwest Alberta Thursday.
The crash occurred shortly before noon near Two Creeks, about 225 km northwest of Edmonton.
The driver of a truck hit a horse trailer that was stopped at a stop sign, then ran from the scene with the weapon into the bush, police said.
A few minutes later, the man was seen getting into a newer white hatchback car that police believe was waiting for him.
No shots were fired, and no one was injured at the collision, police said.
The 5'10" white male was last seen wearing blue jeans and a camouflage jacket. He had a white bandana over his face.
Police said the car, which has a black oval or circular decal or marking on the hatch, was last seen at about 1 p.m. on Highway 947.
Fox Creek RCMP are advising anyone seeing the man to not approach him, but call 911 with their location.
Police set up a wide perimeter hoping to intercept the vehicle with the man inside.
