#1 reason wooley buggers are my go to hook
Well boys i decided to take a little trip out to the Clearwater this afternoon. I went out to the bridge at 54 and it was UGLY! Water was high and dirty and dont even get me started on the snow lol. Got turned away by the weather so i ventured back east on 54 and decided to fish the Stauffer. I fished about an hour and hooked up 4 times. Luckily i managed to bring two fish to hand one of which was my PB brown EVER!!!!! The small fish measured in at 13" the larger one at 22.5" dont get to jealous now haha

You can't keep them outta stauffer anyway, but good advice for keeping them off the banks.

Congrats on the personal best. I have not had the luck with Wooley Buggers that my friends have. I have trouble keeping large flies out of the trees.... I have two buddies who use the bow river bugger as a go-to fly. (muddler minnow head, black bugger body with some flash)

my favorite wooly buggers are size 12, with a bit of lead in the body or a colored bead. For stillwaters and for rivers, they're just fishy flies!

Thanks guys. I caught these fish both on a #12 olive bead head bugger. also an interesting article. I will definitely keep this in mind as I do most of my fishing solo.
