I'm out in the hills of Summerland and heard rumours Yellowstone volcano is gonna blow. Anyone else hear about this?

Hope not. That's the epicenter and the potentials are devastating.

I read once that Yellowstone is where a well placed nuke would have the most catastrophic results.

If it blows, I hope we have a strong wind from the north...

It's kinds of interesting some of the tv shows these days. One is about Yellowstone blowing, causing the sun to be blocked, and the vampires coming out from underground. Several others are about a post apocalyptic world where humans have rejected technology.

Last time that sucker blew, it cut a gap right through the Tetons. Think the lethal range of that explosion was 1200 miles. Nothing to worry about, cause if it happens, we're dead.

It's been all of June, and this is normal. Every time there is an uptick in earthquakes people jump on the OMG the super volcano is going to blow. If it does, no point worrying about it as the majority of North America will be gone. FWIW I live about 15 miles from the edge of the Caldera.

I figure if she blows with full force, we won't have long to worry about it.

No. Quakes are not above magma chamber. Quakes including swarms are common due to fluid lubricated faults. Quakes loosen fractures which increases lubrication and further quakes.

Quakes need to be above magma chamber as well as bulging up of the earth above magma chamber which is monitored closely.

Long over due to blow to release pressure, hate to say but Vancouver and Seattle also due for 300 year earthquake, may not be a good place to buy a $1million home.

There's a thread running about Sheridan lake in B.C. I posted in there about a couple lakes we used to fish.

My buddy and I were fishing there when Mt. St Helen's blew. We heard the blast, but had no idea what had happened until we got back to news access.

This latest Yellowstone activity is likely due to Fracking, or Trump, or maybe the Russians.

Grab it quick. Drive it to a Holiday Inn Express. Stay the night and let us know how you solved this problem tomorrow.

Seriously though. Likely Calgary is gone. All homes will be ruined and worthless.

I am generous so will consider offering $10,000 for any nice home in the Calgary area. Use the money to buy prepping supplies and fly to Hawaii away from the blast.

That's crazy! I used to stay at the Sheridan Park Resort, nice fishing with the right lures and was a peaceful place to stay.

We may all be due, there was a massive earthquake in the 1700s that rocked all of western Canada.

Yep.. Was felt by quite a few here in Cowtown as well. I didn't notice it, but there was an odd number of dogs barking uncontrollably last night shortly after..

I could swear I felt an earthquake/tremor last night around 12:45am. Lasted about 5 seconds, house was creaking, lights swaying, dogs barking. got up to see if wind was howling, all calm ...... weird. Anyone know of a website that tracks earthquakes?

It wasn't ironic timing, it's why I posted this thread.

Fwiw, I never posted this thread because I was worried, I was just curious.

After reading some of the responses I'm scared now though!
