Have you ever walked amongst say people in Toronto and engage in conversation or any of our other cities...same thing could be said...ignorance and arrogance have no borders...

I never understood the crazed hatred commies in Canada have for the USA. If it wasn't for the umbrella of defence the USA provides us we wouldn't be able to afford socialized medicine, all the other social welfare projects and the giant army of bureaucrats "required" for the pilfering and spreading. We'd actually have to spend some money on defence.

Thanks again to our good friends to the south. God Bless the USA and here's hoping they can fend off the commie voters next election cycle.

Canada has a reputation for being nice worldwide. I think that is odd from the hate filled rhetoric that I read and hear about whether it be on sites like this or in person regarding the States. Go to an American based website and you see nothing negative pertaining to Canada with the exception of some humour regarding igloos etc... That being said we are lucky that there is a US of A and our proximity to it.

Says the guy calling his countrymen/countrywomen commies.

The beauty of our country is that we have open borders, in spite of what is happening down south. I'm sure you're more than welcome to join them - they could use a good comrade down there!

Perhaps it's not the 'umbrella of defence', but rather, we're a good country, and we take care of our friends, and are respected the world over. I know you won't see it that way, and i honestly wouldn't expect you to, but please, don't ever call me a commie.

You're hopeful about the right thing though. Hopefully, in the next election (if it makes it to that point), the Americans can fend off the commies and get someone new in power - bring some sanity back to what was once a great country.

Cheers

It isn't so much that we're so well liked...it's partly just that as a nation we are in the world news so little that politically we're just thought of as harmless.
As the included article points out...Canadians are thought of as friendly by forigners, but they know next to nothing about the country itself.
We, as Canadians, absorbing Canadian news are guilty of having a sense of self importance that unfortunately is a bit overblown...we think that our viewpoints on world events holds sway with other countries...in reality they to some degree just see us as cute and cuddly with no real world stage political clout.
We are indeed to some degree sheltered by our friends to the south.
