Car alarm with a mind of it's own
Dad's 05 F150 vehicle alarm keeps going off every morning right around 10 am. Goes of two or 3 times consecutively(reset and will go off again within a minute) then nothing till the next day. Dad has owned this truck for years and this issue just started recently. No new work has been done, no new electronics added. Battery replaced by me in January, all wires still attached where they were before the battery change.
Did a google search, checked for a pin under the hood, nothing, just a mercury switch. Bent bracket to keep it from moving, both ways, still going off. Found the switch to turn off but the lever is broke due to whoever installing it beside the emerg brake and your foot hitting it, so I unplugged the switch. Still going off.
I un screwed the ground wire under the hood. Still went off today right on time.
I guess I need to find the main box and un plug the alarm?
Far as I know it is from the factory or installed when the truck was new. All key fob buttons work, car starter works. Just this darn alarm goes off. I will cut the siren wire if I can't figure it out before I use it to go on holidays lol.
Just wondering if anyone has had a ghost in their car alarms and had a solution other than disconnecting. Not a big deal if the security alarm has to be disconnected.
Thanks
