Devastating blow to the classic car community
http://www.oldsalbertan.ca/article/C...blaze-20170309
A friend of mine had a fire in his storage barn, there were 25-30 beautiful antique and one of a kind cars inside along with countless tractors and restoration parts. Sad day.

Real sad to hear a collection like that is gone. I went to a shop fire claim for a lawn tractor, a super nice fellow lost a huge bike collection inside. Been to a few farm shop fires too.

I recently did a 4 year frame off on a 69 GTO So I know what the cost is to complete one. I feel for your loss, and probably some are irreplaceable.

What a loss!!! Condolences to the family.
A friend has a collection of mid & late 60's Mopar muscle cars, including several Hemi Road Runners, in both hardtops & convertibles, all roadworthy and driven on occasion to blow out the dust, along with several of the same vintage in various stages of restoration, a 93 Viper with under 500 km, among others in another shop awaiting his attention. He also has a competition pulling tractor with tandem blue-printed Hemi's. His greatest fear is getting burned out!!

I happened on this fire coming back from Bowden yesterday. Flames were already coming out of the roof and smoke was blowing across the road to the north. Thought I was actually the first person on scene and drove into the yard to call 911, but the fire department had ONE truck way in the back. An elderly couple was just wandering out, wondered if it was the owners. Constant popping of what I now realize must have been gas tanks blowing. One would assume it was insured. First thought was, another drug op up in flames. It's just up the road from Olds infamous multi million dollar bust. Actually the second time this building has burned. first time was when it was a dairy barn and a bunch of cows were killed.

I remember hearing that the barn had burnt once before. I believe it was owned by the Leth family back then. The older couple that you saw would have been the current owners. Unfortunate for them, nothing was insured so it is all a total loss.

My mother in-law lost a car in a garage fire and the house insurance did not cover the lose as the claim that is for the car insurance to cover. She did not have fire coverage on the car. I have a 1965 Mustang and I promptly went out and put full coverage on it. I sure hope he has each unit covered also or he maybe out of pocket.

Crap.

I shudder to think what the yearly cost to insure each car would be. Might've been so much that they couldn't. Or...decided to play the odds...and lost.
