How does the buffl'er hunts work in AB?

I was going to put in for the buffalo hunt here in Alberta. Has anybody done this? I would just like to know how anyone did and where the zone is at? I realize its too late for this year but maybe next year I'll giver a whirl. Thanks

Well, since the number of tags has dropped to 35 this year, and the number of applicants has risen to over 7000, I'd say you have about as much chance of getting drawn as you do for Mountain Goats (that would be slim to none), but worth the lotto ticket.

I understand that a number of people hunt them east of the draw zone (which is near Assumption) without tags. I am not clear on how an bison is a game animal in one zone and not in another, but I am sure someone else can fill you in.
