Default New species caught in Bow last week

New species seen caught in Bow last week.

I watched a fisherman hook and land a Squirrel in Fish Creek Park.

It was hooked in the snout almost like it went for the fly.

How weird is that.

Default Gull

I hooked and landed a Sea Gull when Salmon fishing on the west coast. We we casting toward a Herring ball and a Gull took my buzz bomb. Lots of squawking and flopping around on the landing and release.

I caught a beaver last week. Poor thing little thing surfaced right into my caddis dry. I really prefer to coexist with tail-slapping fish scaring monsters. I am pretty sure they are smart enough to know the cause of the stabbing pain. Sorry fellow anglers. That beaver will be slap-happy for a long time.

3 experiences with mink. One time one grabbed a big streamer I was fishing, I barely survived getting the leader cut, vicious little devil. Second one got trapped in a fish trap on a small stream by Kennedy lake on Vancouver Island, it was swimming in circles in this plywood fish trap shivering and couldn't get out, I found an old dead branch and reached it down into the trap and he grabbed on to it, ran up the stick, up my arm and jumped off my shoulder and gone into the rocks, figure he went into the trap looking for an easy meal. Third one I was sitting on the Bridge River Rocks in BC fishing for springs, my soft styrofoam slip bobber was drifting in the current along the rocks on the other side, a mink was scampering around the rocks, he saw the float going by and had to have it, he jumped off the rocks about 15 feet down thru the air and chomped onto the float and wouldn't let go, I reeled him across and up out of the water about 25 feet straight up thru the air to where I was sitting, the whole time he was trying to murder that float, wouldn't let go so I cut the line. He ran off with the float and I never saw it again.
