Default What is your Experience Using CFE 223

I've been using Benchmark and 55 grain bullets in my 223. I will soon be needing powder and have been thinking about CFE 223---it seems to produce higher velocities than other powders and reduces copper fouling---not sure about accuracy as higher velocity doesn't necessarily produce better accuracy.
The literature also says that CFE 223 is good in 22-250 as well.
Anyway, what is your experience with this relatively new powder?
Bill

I am using CFE223 behind the Sierra 69gr TMK in my Tikka Varmint rifle. I am not seeing any copper fouling, the velocity is 2900fps, and I fired the five shot group below at 100m during my first range session with the rifle. I am waiting for warmer weather to see if the powder is temperature sensitive, but the load is averaging under 1/2" at 100 meters.

CFE-223 is my go to powder for .223, 22/250 & .308 loads.

My best .223 55 gr load is 28.0 gr CFE... loaded for Ruger M77 actions... it is a hot load, so you will want to work up to it.

I've considered this powder in my 204 ruger instead of benchmark. Might have to give it a go.

It worked good in a couple of my 223 and very well in my M305 308 win.

Default Cfe 223

Thanks everyone. Looks like I will start looking for some CFE 223.

Just curious what your load density is like with the load your using?

I use a drop tube funnel, but with Lapua brass, 26gr of CFE223, and the 69gr TMK loaded to fit the magazine, the load is very close to a compressed load. I am going to try loading closer to the lands again, when my Waters aluminum T-3 magazine arrives, and if the accuracy holds up or improves, The load density will drop a touch.

I've been using it for 2 years now and love the stuff. 26 grains seems to be the magic number for me with anything from 50-55 grains. 27 grains for the 40 grain Vmax works great to make small critters explode.
