access to crown land via private property
Found this interesting. I would expect if the land owners appeal is denied this may have some spill over ramifications if somebody in Alberta was to test the access described in court.

I was under the impression that a large amount of that land is leased grazing land, not privately owned property

WTF Canada? An American owns the largest amount of land In BC. Are we really a country or just our neighbors pawns.

He is married to Ann Walton, a scion of the family that owns Walmart, the world’s largest company by revenue.

So, he bought the land with our own money. America First!

Most of Canada is not owned by Canadians .... Even your own hard earned money sitting in the bank is not yours thanks to the Turd a few budgets ago ...
I would just like to know if your mad because the owner is an not Canadian? or if your mad because he is American ??

Thank the Conservatives too. It was Joe Oliver in about 2014 that proposed the bail-in regulations but held off. The Liberals later enacted the concept.
Done around the world to keep taxpayers from having to deal with the too big to fail problem of taxpayers bailing out banks and all their crappy over-indebted borrowers.
I’m not sure of the final regs but it goes after the bank shareholders and bank bondholders if a bank needs recapitalization. Not sure if any CDIC’s rules changed for depositors.

A lot of countries have laws about foreign ownership, not likely to happen here.

Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba have very strict limits on individual or corporate foreign ownership of farmland. BC does not.

We used to do work on Douglas Lake Ranch 20 years ago on these lakes and streams into it. For access all you had to was go to the ranch office and sign out a key with your plate number. It was never an issue before. I’m assume that the previous access might be some of the issue for his legal battle. Precedent has been set.
