Unhappy Grampa beat 2018. Sleep well Mike.

My Wife's Dad passed this morning, just after midnight.
It was not a huge shock, he has been in the hospital for some time.
I was sick, did not call or see him and say it was a pleasure being his Son for half my life.
Treasure your time.

Ken, I'm very sorry for your loss. I'm sure Mike would have known well that you cherished the relationship you had. I'd also bet he was pretty proud of having a guy like you as a son.

Thoughts and prayers through this tough time.

This is what I was going to say. Maybe didn't get to say what you wanted, but he would already know. Sorry for your loss, and condolences to the family. If he was in bad health for a while, take solace that the pain is over. I watched my grandmother wither away into nothing, over her last couple years. She wanted to go, and suffered until that time finally came. Her passing was sad, but the family took comfort in the fact her pain and struggles were over.

So very sorry to hear this. But consider maybe he related to the sounds of celebration the world over... maybe that's how he wanted it, fireworks and laughter all round him.

Thanks everyone.
I drove to North Battleford several times and gently persuaded him to go to the Hospital when nobody else could. We had a good relationship that way, I have never asked anything from him, and when I said we needed to go he never disagreed. This amazed his wife and her son, that he would not argue with me. We often talked about 911 calls I had been on, apparently he really listened.
His heart has been down under 20% capacity for over a year and enlarged, again it was not a surprise, more of a sad blessing.
My wife and our family really appreciate the kind words and PM's. I have passed them on to her.
