Default Ultimate recycling

After 70-80 years of gathering protein, vitamins, minerals and assorted other
stuff, when you head to the happy hunting grounds, you no longer need all
that stuff. You can donate your wrinkled bag of bones and blubber to the
University faculty of medicine. The Anatomical gifts program will use it to teach
anatomy to students.
They use a unidentified homeless person, but with this program your Xrays and medical records can follow you, giving much more value.
There is no cost to you, saving your family 5000- 10,000 dollars which can be
used with a trip or some other way to celebrate your life.
The University looks after ALL costs including cremation later.

Interesting bit of info. I've been listed as an organ donor on my DL for some time but, probably have a few too many miles on me to be useful to anyone.

Where can a guy get more info this program?

Having worked at a funeral home in my youth i know how much they rip you off. $170.0 for the pen to sign the registry at the funeral. My wife and i are both doing this. Maybe they can figure out why I always say my feet are killing me.

This is a good thing for students. My friends daughter went through the Physical therapist program and they used Cadavers. It was a great tool she said to see the muscle groups and such.

And a plus on the cost side for your family if you don't want a big sending off party.

That is a great idea. I was at the Funeral home yesterday, and cringed at the prices they were so subtly passing on to the widow. Rental casket for her personal viewing session. Rental casket for the front of the church, or rental Urn for use if cremated. Actual burial urn $550.00 for a birdhouse. Seriously, the size of a sparrow house, just barely nicer looking.

$170 for a pen, I could puke.

It sounds like a better option than the one I gave Incredigirl...

(Drive me out to the woods, coat me in honey, and get the kids to wave goodbye as they drive away...)

Something to keep in mind for people no money and can't afford a funeral. The government will pay for a basic casket, cremation and basic funeral expenses. They will exhaust all CPP and pull all money left in the persons account. Most funeral homes fail to mention this as an option.

By signing up to the Coop Memorial fund you can save quite a bit of money on a funeral, the catch is you need to sign up before you pass. We did this for my Dad. They have packages for Burial and cremation. its $20.00 to sign someone up. I believe it is only Southern Alberta though. I think all packages are under 5k and if you want to go all out still it gets you a 10% discount.
