Back up gun
When you are setting on a bait for bear with a bow, do you have a gun around for backup when you go in after a hit bear?
If so What kind of gun?

I pack either a 12 guage loaded with slugs or a 300win mag. Never had to use it yet, but came close a few times.

Never pack a gun, most times I don't even bring the bow into the bait as I have my hands full with 5 gallon pails full of meat.
In the case of really aggressive bears at the bait, simply drop the bait and back out of the bait to the quad.
Even the biggest, meanest bear simply wants the grain, donuts, meat scraps - not me. They know how the food gets there and their aggression is always directed toward protecting the bait from other bears, not you.

Hopefully you won't have too, because you only got one shot that counts.
I've seen yotes take a load of fully choked BB's at 20 yds and they still made it a 100 yds. And don't have exit holes
