Default Aircraft Carrier landings in heavy seas

A couple of videos showing landings of aircraft on the USS Nimitz in heavy seas. The deck is lifting 30 feet up and down while they are attempting to land jets and eventually it gets dark and they are still landing.
Good vids courtesy of the folks over at AtTalk.
10 minutes each.

They must need tailored pants and underwear to accommodate the giant pair it takes to do that for a living.

Thumbs up

Thanks Whiskey!

Excellent thread and great vids ... much appreciated!

Not many people know, but in the past (WWII, Korean War, etc.) Canada has had three aircraft carriers . . .

HMCS Bonaventure -

HMCS Magnificent -

HMCS Warrior -

Where are they now ... all in the scrap yard

The amount of information those pilots have to process at once is absolutely astounding. Truly amazing what they do.

TF, thanks for that info, something I was not aware of.

That's a crazy look in the life of those pilots, The new glass cockpits, with technological advancements have all but , made the decision processes obsolite. The new birds fly, preform and react to the enviroment, way faster than the human brain can process, so basically humans are the as a backup to the computers.

Oh no, trust me, there's still a helluva lot of stuff that goes into flying a jet fighter. Ask any CF-18 pilot.
