IMO this event actually happened as reported.
Seems to me that a few years ago those same media got caught with their pants down so to speek.

Didn't a reporter write a story about some event in the middle east, from a witness prospective and then it turned out that he had never been there, but only after a good many well respected mainsteam media outlets carried his fake story.

No I won't provide links, it happened and if you don't believe it, you google it.

I have no proof, But I always have a problem taking any news at face value regardless of who or how well known the reputation . Media can only report what they are given .
Take our famous Snare specialist of late! The media report what they were given .in addition to his story two F&W employees jump into the melee from Sundre.

That being said and from having talked to one Government trapper and biologist from Montana , It sounds like the people in charge of management of the wolves are handicapped by politics and animal welfare advocates.
I cannot say IF the reports are genuine , They appear to be .
BUT IF you were a group of frustrated wildlife management people with the charge of managing in this case,
What better way to say <We told you so> at the next convention on wolf control ?
And is it not perhaps time to do something about it? Just my opinion .

I think a farmer poisoned the elk, that were ****ing on their bales, wrecking their fences, then blamed the wolves that ate their livestock, so they will be shot... thats a double knock out....lol

The thing that first came to my mind was a cull.

I'm pretty sure I read about F&W culling that herd some years ago.

As I recall, there was a huge protest so wolves were introduced to deal with the situation.

So I wondered, if F&W are afraid to cull the herd and the wolves are a threat to livestock what's a rancher to do?
So long as the Elk remain so will the Wolves.

Some years ago two men were murdered at a packing plant in Edmonton.
The authorities ruled it was an accidental electrocution. A later autopsy showed it to be the result of gunshot wounds to the heads of both men.

I wonder if F&W officers are any better trained in forensics then police officers are?

I can't help thinking about the lack of deep snow in those photographs.
A healthy Elk can outrun a Wolf any day of the week.

In every case I have heard of where a spree killing occurred, there was something restricting the movement of the victims.

I'm just not seeing anything in those photos that might restrict the movement of those Elk.
