The 110gr accubond would be a great choice.

I'm currently working up loads using 117gr. Sierra Gamekings and RL25 powder.

Its my first time loading for a calibre with free-bore so Im loading all my rounds at 3.25'' where I usually play around with OAL on other guns.

A friend of mine has had great luck with the 115gr TSX, Fed 215, and RL25.

Anybody know where to find any 257 WBY brass? He's got 20 brass, but can't find more. I know it can be made from 7mm rem mag or 264 win mag, but he wants to keep all the same kind of brass and he's got Wby (Norma) right now.

hi wolfman,
i have three mark 5's,
i use new norma brass...building my own seems like too much work.
hi performance has a price, cut budget on some other area
i use 100gr boat tail bullets only. IMO, using a heavier (120 gr) bullet defeats the purpose of ultra hi velocity rounds. if a 95 grain round was around id look at it.
lite rounds with hi velocity kills and how.
currently using imr4831 gets 3650fps.
barnes triple shocks and hornadys.
barnes act more like a FMJ at 100 and under, so maybe not a good choice for smaller game (coyotes, wolves).
will be going to imr7828ssc too hit the 3700++fps
the 257 is a dragster, dont use it to get groceries

The only reason I went with the Sierra Gamekings is that they're supposed to be a pretty accurate bullet and they're cheap to shoot.

My 257wby is a Ruger #1 thats been rechambered from a 25-06. It was pretty rough when I bought it so I wasnt sure how it was going to shoot.

Figure if I can get some gamekings shooting pretty decent out of it, I might as well use it like that until the barrel/throat are shot out (and its hard to say how soon that'll be).

I really bought the gun for the action only to use for a custom build. But until I'm ready for my build, might as well use the gun and have some fun with it.

thanks for all the info, I am starting to gather things up as the new gun should be here soon. Am looking forward to hunting with it, and trying out some of these loads to find the one the gun likes.
Thanks
Wolfman
