i have a browning bar safari 30-06 lightweight stalker, put a scope on it last fall but didnt get much shooting in, Bushnell elite. so far this year i have been shooting it with federal premium 165 gr. noslers. and arent getting the groups i think i should. at 100 yrds or bit less it is inconsistently around 4-6 inches or so.

Try this with your BAR.
from a cold bbl, shoot your first shot. Wait 1 minute, then shoot your second shot, then wait 3 minutes and shoot a third shot. I've done this for a few BAR's and the groups got smaller right away.

Barring that try some chap 150's, and cheap 180's if nothing changes, time to go see a gun guru.

I have an older version and new (2), in .270.
Had a great deal of trouble with both, so just kept trying different brands etc.
I finally got to the one both love: Federal Premium 130grain Sierra Game King BTSP.
Both cloverleaf at 100M now.

Just what worked for me.....

I have used both 130 gr barnes Federal factory ammo and 160gr Nosler Balistic Tip in Federal Factory ammo and got under an inch with my 7mmWSM. I now reload 120gr Barnes TSX bullets and get very nice groups with them. Around 3/4"

My rifle also has the boss which is nice to have if you need to do some fine tuning.

Good luck!!
