Default Range Membership Numbers

Whether it is the result of covid or some other factor, we are seeing huge increases in people coming out to shoot this spring. When I dropped by Saturday, every bench on the rifle range was full, and turnouts at skeet are up at least 30% compared to previous years. Are other people noticing the same increase in participation?

I have noticed the same thing but for me I have lots of new friends introduced to the sport which means more people at the range. I know it is much more busy but I think for the sport in whole it is a good thing.

We have seen an increase in usage as well. Even though our membership numbers are about normal for this time of year

It will be interesting to see where the membership numbers top out, to see if we end up with more members by year end, but , the spring turnout is larger by far than previous years, and about 30% of our skeet shooters are new this year.

With our long range in place now I fully expect to see an increase in membership over previous years.
The Legion has three sponsored shoots this year and we have a couple of others planned as well so I think it will be busy .

Yup...two weeks ago went out on a Sunday around noon...all the ranges were full at SPFGA, which I've never seen before.
Went out yesterday, bright and early...to be there at 9am when first rounds can be let go. Often at that time we are the first there. Not crowded but definitely more than usual for that early.

Participation at our trap and skeet club is up this year. Too early to tell where membership numbers will end up.

I don't think that we have ever seen cabin fever similar to Covid isolation in our lifetime.
People are looking for new activities.
Bicycle and gardening sales are going crazy.

Threats of firearm confiscation, reclassification and banning always cause a bump in sales and in range use.

The greatest firearms salesmen are the politicians who advocate for more control.

That used to be an issue at our range, but an electric gate requiring swipe card access made it a non issue.

We also hav e video surveillance as well as a card lock, and our video log is checked on a regular basis.
More than once we have found the same two or three vehicles coming in with one person swiping their card.
That leads to a conversation resulting in a warning then often range suspension if the card carrier is not up front

Our members can bring guests. Guests who are frequent visitors are told to apply for their own membership.
I can only remember one flagrant abuse of guest privileges. That person is not a member anymore.
We prohibited guests under the tightest covid restrictions on numbers.

We have cameras in addition to the swipe card system. and we allow guests three visits, before they must purchase their own membership. Violations result in a conversation, and if the violation is serious, or if it is repeated, the access card is deactivated, and the holder's membership is revoked. Usually just informing the person that we are required to report any revoked memberships to the CFO, is enough to put an end to any issues.

Our club allows two range visits by a guest then they are asked to buy a membership .

Our range insurance covers guests, it depends on who you are insured with.

I’ve been to your range twice in 6 years as a guest. Once with a wedding party in the skeet field and once with my brother in law. So I guess I have 1 more chance to use it. LOL.

I guess I should buy a membership and use it more. I do like the facility.
