Default Leupold qrw rings

I bought a nightforce scope. I was wanting to use it on two different guns. Any one use these quick remove rings. Wondering how accurate they are and whether they zero after they are removed.

I have standard rings with the 1/2 inch nut on my tikka battue with a rail. My intention was to have the flexibility to use open sights and a scope for the backcountry. I have not had time to fully test the accuracy but in the limited re-mount situations I have done so far (about 5 times at the range) my zero stays within a 1/2 inch.

I’m just waiting on a few more nice days to go play with this some more.

I have used them and they are a very good ring as long as your bases are milled accurately.

I have the QRW rings on a few large bore guns that have Express sights for dangerous game. They are the ones with the finger tighten levers on the ring. They go off and on easily and they return to exactly the same POI. The work well on everything up to 375 H&H. The recoil on the 460 Bee and cartridges in that range is too robust and will loosen off the thumb screws so you need to check them after a couple of shots, but in my case I went to a more secure mounting system. Anything short of that they stay tight just fine. Twenty round from the 375 and still perfectly tight but is only about 1/2 the recoil of a 416.

I use the QRW rings on my Marlin 1895 Guide Gun 45-70. They get me back to within an inch at 100 yds consistently. You need to ensure you push the scope mounts forward into the rail before tightening the levers.

I tried cheapo NC Star quick release rings on this 45-70 and broke the cross lugs out of both rings. Junk!

The QRW finger levers are a bit sharp edged for my liking so I will wrap them in a rag or use a glove to install/remove them.

To be clear, the QRs I am using fit into front and rear bases with a hole and the lever cams a slotted rod onto the pivot on the rings. The thumb lever is actually on the base, I was incorrect above about them being on the ring on my big bores. I have never used the ones that go onto a Weaver slotted type rail where the thumb lever is on the ring except on light rifles like 22rf, 22 250 etc and I have not evaluated them for return to zero.

That style is the QR which is an excellent product. The QRW stands for quick release "Weaver", as it fits Weaver style bases or rails.

That makes sense. These are the bases on the big bores.

I use PRW and QRW rings, and taking them on and off , they stay within a couple of clicks or so.
