lower elevation lakes like watridge and maybe burstall will probably be open, But the high ones like Elbow, chester, and Picklejar might still have ice.
try asking on a hiking forum?

Other issue is that you can't really get at them yet. Highway 40 is still closed. Open Sunday

Most of the hike in lakes mentioned in this thread aren't open to fishing until July 1 or later.

Wow a bunch of useless info. There are still many mountain lakes open all year. I do Read and understand the regs thanks though.
I am probably just going into fortress again anyways.
Thanks for the info Flieguy

Why so snarky? I'm just posting the fact that many of the lakes mentioned in the post are closed still. Maybe someone else who reads your thread isn't as enlightened as you are to the regs.

In my experience none of the alpine stuff is free of ice until mid July. We were still sledding 2 weeks ago on the west side of the ranges.
With the cool overnight temps it has kept the ice on many of them. Please post if you do get into some. The mid elevation is likely good but the creeks off of them will be flowing high.

Since I dont have the regs right beside me I dont know when they open, but there is Window Mountain Lake in the pass up the Atlas road. Its a nice little hike. There is also Bovin Lake down by the Waterton gas plant.

I'm waiting for July on all of the high-elevation lakes. I do have a couple that I hope to try out once the ice is likely to be off them, though. Hopefully just me and the bears.

About 2 hours (make sure you go the Lantern Creek route, not the Picklejar Creek route).

There is one short traverse over talus with minimal exposure. Otherwise the trail has no real geographic hazards. I would feel comforatable hiking in (less so out) in the dark with a headlamp, though others might not.

Only access is over Guinn's pass from Buller Creek. They've closed the Lillian lake backcountry campground from the flood damage.
