Default Car and home insurance who has the best deals

Testing out the markets tto see if am over paying for insurance.
I got full coverage through td for home, truck, car and trailer for a total of$254 dollars a month.
No claim history or speeding tickets with the exception of one no fault accident where i got hit in a parkinglot while stopped. The claim process with them was very smooth and i was very well taken care off.

So what are you guys paying and who are you with?

Comparing monthly rates is pointless.
As there are thousands of different variables that affect the rates.
As an example, a BMW is more to insure than a honda civic, a $300k house vs a $600k house is different. a 35yr male is different from a 30yr male.

Your best bet is spend just as much time as you did to type this, to call other insurance companies and see if they will beat your rate.

FTR.. TD for me, has been the cheapest by far (I check every year), and I've even been told by my friend (who is an insurance broker) that they can't come even close.

Oh, and I have an excellent customer service with TD through multiple claims.

You are correct JB. Funny thing is that i called intact and they said they cant compete with these prices. There are many factors contributing to how much insurance costs such as the neighborhood and home size.
But am mostly interested in averagw numbers for decent coverage and decent customer service. As i said earlier, TD was extremly good during my fender bender and i would definitely recommend them.
But then again, is there something better? My rates havent dropped in 3 years, havent increased either

I went through Armour Insurance, I keep checking every year since I always thinking I'm overpaying and they always seem the cheapest. TD Insurance quoted me $800 or so more than AI. Hope that helps.

Pretty hard to say one is 'better' than the other.

Premiums and claim settlements vary from one to the other. Cheap rates may mean lousy claim service.

It's like banks. one month one gives good service and the next a different one. One client is happy, next is not.

It's a crap shoot. pay your money and take your chances.

Regardless of which company you choose, they all have something they are not telling you.

I'd say if your rates haven't increased or dropped, that's pretty good. Considering all the large environmental disasters that happen regularly in Alberta.

Talked to a person today that went to Belair (Intact) from a broker (Intact). Said a savings of $2400 yr. That's crazy!
No wonder a local insurance broker in Sherwood Park was able to build their own multi tenant building! I'm sick of getting it up the ringer!!

I am also with Belair Direct, they did buy out my original insurer, Canadian direct. They do have great rates and unfortunately, now I can confirm that they have a very good service also.... Just laid to rest my SUV - total loss after the accident(not my fault), and the process was very easy, painless and fast. Got a a very fair price for my vehicle, they are handling all the bill payments for the chiropractor and physiotherapist, no complaints whatsoever!

I've been with Aviva for a while. There was a claim where a coyote jumped out on the highway and attacked my car while the car was running town the highway. took 3 years to get it settled. The adjuster quoted a part for the wrong car, and the claim manager (?) wouldn't change the part to the right part number. They also refused to go to Mercedes to get the right bumper, and I showed the adjuster's quote to 2 body shops, and they checked their books, and they said that if that was the specified part to be used, they wouldn't do the repair.

So, after 2 and a half years of this going around, Aviva canceled all the insurance but liability until the car was fixed. So, I spent a month trying to get the lady claims manager to call me back. No dice. I didn't miss a call from them. I didn't not get a voicemail. No call back, even though other employees said that she was in the office.

So, I went back into my phone's history and figured out all the times I called her, and I called the Alberta insurance regulatory body, and told them I'd like to make a complaint against the company. I was told that first, they would do things informally, and didn't use all the information that I had brought together. At first, it would be looked at informally, which would include an informal call to Aviva by the regulator to see if this was just a mistake.

That had an effect, cause the lady I had been trying to contact, and her boss were both on the phone within an hour, apologizing, and asking how this could be made right. I told them I wanted the appraisal thrown out, and the right parts put onto my car. I didn't have 2 months for it to go through their 'process' of handling wrong parts on the car. (Process was that the wrong parts were ordered, then if they didn't fit, they would order something else. If that didn't work out, they'd either buy out the car, or pay me the damage amount they determined.)

Now, since then, anytime I've called about a claim, everything is handled very quickly and smoothly. I've hit other wildlife, and had to replace the front bumper twice more, and there's no fooling around about it.

Sometimes, insurance service is about how hard you're willing to hit, and less about the company...

for starters, that's cheap insurance. all depends on what you value your home, car, truck, contents at. i basically insure the same stuff as you, my insurance premiums are over $5000. a year.
