Any rifle will work at 20 yards. If I was gonna use a firearm agin it would be black powder on the ground.

Good grief.
And 20 yards or less with a bow is?

I hunt bears with a bow myself, but for rifle my vote goes to the big bores for the up-close work. Something in a lever definitely. Need a classic for that hunt.

Hahahaha touchè. Well said.
I think preference has nothing to do with ease. I think a 45-70 would be fun. The black powder suggestion sounds fun too. I'm currently chasing with my bow for the fun of it but at the end of the day I just want a rug and some meat. 300 wsm or 125 gr grim reaper is my preference. It's all I've got

Bears are not armour plated, contrary to some folks imagination.

Use what you'd use on deer and have a good hunt.

It appears the video in the link isn't responding like it should.

Default black bear challenge

I really dont need any more bear hides, so the last time out, I made it for the challenge. I used an old sxs hammergun in 577/500 and stalked them on the bait sites. I took a pair of them, one at 70 yards, and the other at a butt-puckering 20

Average Black weighs around 250 lbs. good shooting is more important than caliber.

It is if your picky, bugs are biting, hotter than hell etc
Let's not say one technique is less or more challenging, as long as it is legal than bang on!
Or how about the hunter that has been injured but still wants to enjoy the great outdoors, getting there is a challenge etc

My go to Bear gun is my model 94 thuty thuty.

But then I don't hunt them. I only shoot them if they start hangin around the yard so the range is always under fifty yards. often less the ten.
