(b) that is capable of containing more than 10 cartridges of the type for which the magazine was originally designed
and that is designed or manufactured for use in a semi-automatic handgun that is commonly available in Canada.
Butler creek 25 round mags are NOT designed or manufactured for use in Charger pistols. They can't possibly be, because they existed BEFORE a 10/22 pistol was commonly (or even uncommonly) available in Canada or anywhere in the world.
Personally, I hate those 25 round mags. But the RCMP are either deliberately misinterpreting the law or are ignorant of the English language in this case. OR they believe Butler Creek has the ability to travel forward in time and design products in the present/past for guns they have seen in the future.
The RCMP are interpreting the law as if it read
"...and are capable of being used in a semi-automatic handgun that is commonly available in Canada."
Of course, anyone that challenged this law would be crushed by the full weight of their own tax dollars being used to financially destroy them in the courts.
