Default best bang for buck practice arrows?

Hi guys, I'm new to shooting and have been practicing on targets for a month. I thought I was improving and able to get good consistent groups of about 5" out to 30 yards. Then I tried my first 3D shoot and couldn't hit the side of a barn, lost a couple of good arrows in the process.

I'm looking for suggestions for budget arrows to improve my form/practice while I save the good arrows for a few months down the road??

Welcome to the world of 3D shooting! Arrows will be lost(the wife lost 6 arrows at the Veg shoot last month!). Keep shooting the arrows that work the best for you and your bow. Just walk in closer to the target and shoot until you are comfortable at shooting the full distance. I've lost a few arrows, and will lose more. Judging distance is a lot harder when looking between branches and trees at your target. I still suck at estimating distance myself without my rangefinder. Cheaper arrows will probably be less accurate and cost you more in the long run with more misses and frustration.

Practice with what you intend on using or you won't be "tuned" at all times.

With a few exceptions, would you practice and sight in a rifle with one type of ammo and then switch ammo to hunt with?

Agree, it's also cheaper to scrap together a back stop than have multiple sets of arrows, plus the all the extra time you'll spend tuning each setup, buy quality arrows that fit your budget, when your just starting out keep it simple.

thanks, that makes a lot of sense to me. So then, what are some good arrows on the affordable end of the spectrum that are accurate enough to hunt with?

Goldtip Hunter or Hunter XT, great all around arrow for 3D and hunting. Tough and fairly reasonable to buy.

Easton Powerflight sell for under $100.00 a dozen...many use them for hunting and wont break the bank...

I compared them to my CX Maxima Blue streak [approx. 200.00 doz] and hooded the Powerflight into the CX first round... so flight is as accurate as expensive arrows...

I'll second them if money is the issue. Dont go back and fourth between arrows if you want to be accurate past 20 meters
