Default Calgary hunters new/experienced get-together

Anyone interested in getting together for beers? I am a new hunter and have met many others who are new, as well as some experienced. Thought it would be an idea to see if we could get a group together somewhere in Calgary. Anyone interested?

If the timing works I would be up for it. Make sure the place we pick has buck-hunter!

Open to suggestions on where. I am in the SE as well. How is next Saturday night February 21 for everyone? There is a pub in Deer Run that has a few Buck Hunters and is never too busy, the Lighthouse.

Hunter10, we'll have to figure out an all ages venue for the next one.

Great idea Dmckay,

I'm very interested but not sure if I'll be able to make it down. I look forward to hearing how it goes. Maybe could set up an email list and make it a regular thing...

Would be interested, just depending on time. Live just south of Okotoks so the SE would be a good place.

Default This is great!!!

I agree with the all ages thing but that might limit the possible locations, (frankly I wouldn't know where to suggest). Nonetheless, I think we need to set up some sort of local chapter/eMail list. I'd be all over hooking up with some local hunting nuts to swap BS and tips.

The 21st is the boss' Bday so I wouldn't be able to make it, lest she'd kill me. I'd suggest a weekday as I tend to be in town on them vs weekends. Nothing too structured just a bunch of folks getting together to swap ideas/experiences etc.

I'd suggest any local Legion (they tend to be very quiet and cheap) but I'd be open to anywhere that can accomodate all ages. The eMails I've seen so far all generally in the south part of town.

If we can get something going before the summer break it might be good for all.

Default Tops Sports Pub

There's a great pub up north, called Tops Pizza and Sports Pub, with a buckhunter, a private room that allows all ages, and has a full H.D tv system on like 30 , 60 inch plasma's, that actually i have seen hunting shows on one or two of them. There are quite a few hunting jackets in there.....The owner is a huge hunting fanatic. It's Fairly close to Jimbow's archery actually.

To bad years ago they shut down the tradewinds hotel on macleod trail that would have been the best place they had a pub called the trophy room pub with deer in there that made a guy drool early 80s keep us posted cheers lucky still have two nice shooter glasses from there as a reminder.

This is a great idea, I am up on the NW/NE border but am willing to travell to the south end to meet some new friends.

Not new to hunting but new to hunting in Alberta.

Count me in.

Thumbs up Calgary Area Hunters First Mid-Winter 'Rendezvous'!

I'm not exactly new to hunting, but I think this would be a good idea! dmckay's suggestion ^ is a good one ... Deer Run is close to the Deerfoot, so it would be fairly quick & easy for everyone to get to.

If Feb. 21st doesn't work for some, then I guess we'll just have to have a second 'Rendezvous' at a later date ... oh darn!

Wow, lots of response! Anyone that can make it for next Saturday February 21st between 8 and 9 pm, please reply. Lighthouse Pub 1140 137 Avenue SE. Just off of Bow Bottom Trail. I'll be the chubby guy with dark hair wearing a black Captain Morgan's hoodie. Let's see how the turnout is and then look at setting up an all ages venue. I agree with Big Zeke and Sambar, we should set up an email list, however that works? lol. My email is doug@multi-national.net.

Default No can do

Next Sat is defiantely out for me, the boss's 40th and if I'm not there my life could get very complicated. Going forward pls keep me in mind for the next one of these ...I'm assuming monthly.

Can I also get pointers on setting up an eMail list for all that have responded, perhaps even a seperate space on this site (a long shot I know). I know this would be a niche group based on location but better to get some folks who are actually interested rather than ignore it.

The trick will be keeping the momentum prior to a summer break...these things have a tendancy to unravel if not pushed.

Zeke

I'm in!

Looking forward to the 21st. I'm not sure what I'll be wearing that night, but I'll probably leave my Mountain Man outfit at home.
P.S.
Just a friendly cautionary note ... It's generally not a good idea to post personal information (including email addresses) on open public forums. Such things are usually best dealt with, by using the forum's Private Message function.

Good point Triggerfinger. Anyone wanting to go on the email list can PM their email to me. With your permission, I will add all to a list and send out an email to all for the group. You can than save the addresses to a group. Hope that makes sense. Whomever can make it next Saturday, Feb. 21st, PM me.

Thanks,

Doug

G'day Gents

Just a suggestion ...

We may not have to bother with the email-thing right now, as we already have two ways of communicating. We have this thread that Mr. McKay started, and we also have this forum's Private Message feature.

If we want, we could exchange email addresses and phone #'s at the meeting on Saturday (Lighthouse Pub).

I'm on a bit of a budget these days (saving for another rifle ), so that
first round will have to be limited to the Lighthouse Pub's finest 'draught'.

Our meeting is this 'Saturday' (Feb. 21) @ ~ 8pm in the Lighthouse Pub. Sorry about that ... I've already corrected my post.

Hey Captain, you beat me to it. Although it can be a bit more pricey than $35. Since TJ's presentation I've been seriously considering buying a muzzleloader.

Here's a link to the website: http://www.sarceefishandgame.ca

Ok, end of hijack. Enjoy your get together everyone, sorry I'm not able to make it.
