Default My tikka project finally coming to an end...

I have never been a tikka t3 fan - but I knew they had potential.
I started to think about little changes I would make if I ever ended up with one, but never really planned to purposefully buy one. Then I heard Wildcat was planning to make a quality composite for them and I figured why not. I started watching the EE for the right rifle and finally found a nice superlite in 30-06 at a reasonable price.

The rifle arrived but the new stock wasn't quite ready so I started doing a few mods while I waited. First thing I did was machine a bolt stop from stainless.
Then I saw Brno284 advertising stainless shrouds so I ordered one up (very nicely made I might add). I bought some talley lightweights but didn't like them sitting on top of the dovetail - they looked like an after thought so I ground a dovetail cutter that matches the integral dovetail and cut the mounts to slide on before being screwed down. The dovetail doesn't add any strength, but looks nicer in my opinion.
The factory recoil lug really bothered me. My rifle had already started setting itself back in the aluminum lug and I just don't like the idea of a floating lug - do they work? Sure, but if I'm replacing other parts why not the lug? I cut the receiver face back, aswell as the barrel shoulder and slipped a Remington style lug in.
Finally I got word the Wildcat stock mold was finished so I quickly ordered one up. As usual, Wildcat did not disappoint. I have used a bunch of their stocks over the years, but this was the easiest finishing stock I had ever used.
I thought I was done, but that bottom plastic bugged me. I didn't like the lines of the common aftermarket aluminum stuff I saw, so I decided to machine one from stainless. I still need to get some stainless action screws and I need to make a slightly different mag catch lever but at least you get the idea.
Hope you enjoy...

5lbs 13oz I believe as shown. The bottom metal is heavy at 6.5oz.

No stainless mag in the works - as cheesy as plastic mags are, they seem to work and they are light.

After Double Gun gets bored and "tweaks" his wife's car a little bit. LOL

Kidding aside, nice work on the Tikka!

Damn that turned out well. Should probably make a bunch of those bottom metals they would sell!

Lol I have roughly 25/26hr in the bottom metal alone. I think the market is pretty slim even if I charged $5/hour.

Im a huge tikka fan and without a doubt that is one of the nicest, most functional tikkas i have seen. The only other thing i would be adding is the Yodave trigger spring.
