Well I can't tell you where the rut is at, just that it's started. I've run across 3 different bulls out cruising and grunting in my area so far.

I belive that the rut is starting to get going bulls will be crusing the bush more starting to make scrapes really starting to try and find some cows in heat.

Questions for Russ.....did you see any bulls with size? and where in the province are you?

Reason for the question is that I would expect to see the smaller 30 inch bulls crusing pretty good trying to get a head start. My guess would be by next friday he majority of cows should be starting there estrus.
Also from what I have heard the northern past of the province is a little later than us it seems this year recent warm weather and lots of leave on the trees.

Good Luck
Mike

Default moose rut

the moose rut in the north country is going hard, in the gp area anyways. all the bulls we were into were over 45 inch, only seen one small bull about 35 inch, and he had absolutely no interest in calling. the smallish bulls already had there arse kicked i think and turned tail and hide. only the bigger bulls are running the show now.
the weather was in the mid 20's all week and had no effect as the bulls would display and come to the calls with no hesitation.

on another note pops called in a 35 inch bull on sunday in the two hills wilingdon region, north east alberta. turned tail with the bull calls but came into 16 steps with a soft cow call.

i would say if you have some time off get out there as you will have some good action. take care, rob

Cstairs,where are you from?
I'd expect Carstairs?
I live about 20min outside of Stettler.
There have been up to 9 moose living in the bush behind the house.
I could put you on to all the guys around me that'd be (usually) happy to let you hunt the fence crashers.
P/m me if you want.

It should be coming on asap. A buddy in the same geographical area as your tag called a bull in he spotted when he was fencing the other day.
