Default Nephews First Bow Kill

Got my Nephew his first bow kill a week ago.We were hunting in 300 and got him on numerous deer,2 misses on day one on white tail bucks. That had him a little disgusted with himself but with a little pep talk he got out of his funk and back in the saddle.Day two I got him on a nice mule buck at 15 yards. He was calm and collected at the shot but his arrow was deflected by a branch and had a clean miss.He took this better and was eager to get on to the next one.Day three we had two cow elk down and had to deal with those so we got permission on a property in 302 for him and pointed him in the right direction and left him on his own.We got a call on the cell that evening to come and help him.He put a stalk on three mule bucks but couldn't get closer than 80 yards and busted them.Feeling a little dejected he started to make his way back to the pick up point when he caught two doe's down off the top of a coulee. He made a slow stalk to the edge with some cover and arrowed a doe at 10 yards. The doe ran about 40 yards and expired just below the top of the coulee. When we got there he was elated and was like he was on a caffine and sugar high. After the handshakes and pics we got her out and back to camp for a night of story telling

That is awesome for him! My first kill was a muley doe, and there is nothing quite like that first one. Way to go!

Congrats to your nephew. I bet you he was a happy fellow.
Congrats to yourself for taking the time to assist him and getting him his first archery animal. That will be something that he never forgets.

You first big game hunting success is indeed special, I'll bet even more so when it's done with archery tackle. Congrats!
