Default first time out with the bow

last night was the first time out hunting with my bow (other than gophers). Sitting waiting for two hours and then I thought I could hear something over my right shoulder. Had I made a move then I would have been good, but beginners mistake I just stayed where I was. Then I had a deer come in to view about 15 feet away over my right side. If I was a lefty could have bagged her right there, but had to sit and wait it out and she eventually spooked off. Having them come in that close and so quiet was awesome, and I'm hooked, back to the same spot tonight, just hope that tonight I'm sitting in the right position!!

That specific doe may take another trail tonight just so you know, so adjust your position accordingly if possible.

Yah - that the great thing about bow hunting, you get so close and personal with your quarry.

finding that there is a pretty steep learning curve to archery hunting!!! Last night had quite a few deer in close, went to draw and my arrow drug on my drop away rest, screeched and scared them off! We did manage to get one whitetail buck, but it didn't come from my bow. Think we've found a good spot though, have to go for the weekend but be back at it monday night!!

went out tonight again, doe and two fawns came in, doe was rather spooky with the wind and whatnot going on around. the doe spooked off, but the fawns were staying back, and I figured with the CWD tags and everything, why not, took a stab at one of the fawns out about 15 yards. Perfect shot, sliced open the heart and made hamburger out of the lungs, went about 30 yards and down. Already have him all cut up, backstraps marinading for teh BBQ tomorrow night!!

That's because we're all waiting for an invite to the BBQ!

OK, I'll start:

Congrats on your first bow deer! You're already 1 deer up on me.

That's because he wasn't that big, honestly I don't think there would be enough to go around!
