Default Mechanical realeases

What kinda of release is everyone using? Got a buddy who just lost his cobra and is thinking of trying something new, but its way up northing and is unable to handle or try different ones out, is limited due to lack of stores with archery equipment. Any suggestions? Perferable a size adjustable release. Thanx!

I don't know squat about archery, but check out this thread.

TRU Ball Pro Diamond if you're into thumb releases (I have one for treestanding & blinds but I don't like to practice with it a lot since I tend lose my aggressive shooting style with it. But if you're using a loop you can just let it hang of the loop.)
TRU Ball Short 'n Sweet Excellent release, esp for archers that like to be heavy handed such as my self. I hunt and shoot target with the SS1, FWIW Dietmar Trillus of Ontario used one to win FITA worlds last year.
Scott Mongoose, I bought one in 1997 and it's still one of my back ups
Scott L'il Goose - don't own one but it's basically the same release as the Mongoose, just shorter and a better fit for people that use the 1st knuckle joint for activating the release.

Thumbs up .44 caliber

the .44 caliber is a nice release its priced at about 50 bucks and is fully ajustable and just as good as any 100 dollers release as far as i am concerned

I agree on the .44 Caliper release. I own 2 and my wife has one as well. Great price for a great release.

x2 on the 44 caliper, really nice release, and can be picked up for a very reasonable price too...

Default Releases

Scott makes some of the best (little bitty goose, wildcat). Carter also makes some very good ones as well. Depends what you want to spend. Some of the lower end ones (cheaper) seem good initially, but give them a couple of years and you'll wish you would have spent the money on a better release.
