Lease Land Access
Hi all,
I am new to hunting and new in Alberta. What is the best option to ask for permission from the lease owner? Phone and ask him for permission or try to get his address and show up on his front door?
Would like to have permission before the 2019 season starts and would like to take all available opportunities.
Thank you
Nafi

Lots of variables for them to give you permission this early could be dry season, could have cows , could have fires, but good luck anyway

Face to face is always best when possible.

Offer your "First Born" and significant $$$ as compensation for right to hunt on crown land! Most other things do not work.

About a month before the season start calling the lease holders.
Know your rights, and know theirs as well.

Sound like a lawyer and you'll be out of luck.

I typically phone first per the access conditions. If need be I'll arrange to meet them but this is rare for me. Most have a fairly good system of either registration or "phone me starting this day".
Only had issue with one lease holder no returning calls and the lands guy took care of that for me in about a week.
I always try to be polite and considerate of their time.

the IHunter app is good for this. It has the leases on the map and gives you the lease holders name, phone number, and the conditions they have for gaining access. this is super helpful when calling. it shows you are knowledgeable in their lease conditions and also helps you out if they try and pull one over you. you do have to pay for this feature in the app but the guy who made the app is a local guy who hunts. alberta proud.
