Advice on Maligne Lake; end of August?
Anyone have some advice for fishing Maligne Lake in late August? I have experience fishing the lake June-early July, but I am leading a party of 10 on the very last week of August. I have no idea if the brookies are spawning by then (I assume they are at least prepping). I have no idea if the fish migrate up or down the lake (towards home bay or towards Coronet?). I have 2 days at Coronet campground, 2 days at Fishermans. I don't think the chironomid bite will be on as much as it is in the spring. Lorne Currie always told me that the fishing slows down in August.
I just want to get my friends and kids into some fish. There will be spin and fly fisherman, so any tips on any method or general areas of the lake to concentrate would be most helpful. Don't need your secret methods or hotspots, I am just saying I am quite inexperienced fishing the lake at that particular time of year, could use some general pointers, particularly on what will the brookies be doing.
Appreciate any help!
