Default April Fishing

Any good spots for a few beginner fisherman to head to in April? Somewhere between Calgary and Red Deer preferably but also willing to go a bit more south or north of Red Deer.

Most water ways are closed from April 1-May 8, check the regs as there might be some stocked ponds open.

Most stocked trout ponds will be open all year. There are plenty of other lakes as well open during the spring closure, look at maps find lakes and compare with the regs to see what's not closed. Here are a few for ya: found on 1 page in 2 minutes.
Taber Lake,Horesfly Reservoir, Lost lake etc

I wont give gps but there are a few east of Balzac/Airdrie. Some trout and some pike open all year and not listed in the regs. Get out a map and go for a drive. They are there and a few with decent fish too.
