Default Turkeygate. Town and Province now is a legal war

https://news.google.com/articles/CBM...A&ceid=CA%3Aen

Town turkey that was attacking residents was dispatched with a slingshot at the behest of the town mayor.

Provincial wildlife officers are investigating.

Turkey getting eaten today.

Can’t make this silly stuff up. lol.

How much manpower and staff time is going to be taken up on this.

The obvious question, is why didn't the town contact the wildlife department to deal with the turkey?

Deshaies adds that he demanded help from Quebec's Environment and Wildlife Ministry but never heard back.

Late Thursday, the Wildlife Ministry responded to the Louiseville situation, saying it sent game wardens to the town last week to speak to residents about cohabiting with wildlife.

Sorry to point out the obvious, the Town People ARE cohabiting with wildlife, right beside the stuffing, gravy and mashed potatoes.

I missed the part about contacting the wildlife department, but reading it again, I see that the provincial police were present, so the province was involved. Perhaps they should have just had the police shoot the bird with a shotgun, and let the police and wildlife sort things out?

Sounds like our Coyote lady at the U of A who has made quite the living(grants) off telling us how to deal with the urban yotes in a non lethal way all these years.

Good on the mayor to deal with the problem turkey.

Running over wildlife is a cop thing in the US. Could have done that.

Sometimes these things need to be handled discreetly as to not draw attention to the issue. The public court of opinion usually does not have the best interests of the people.

In this case, a modification to SSS would be warranted.

SPFS instead.

If they were going to do it discretely, they shouldn't have had the police present. If they are going to be present, they might as well dispatch the bird.

Remember a few years back when the Quebec cop opened fire on the stray Cow with a 9mm? What a debacle that was. They probably are very reluctant to deal with any live animal in public after that.

Kudos to the slingshot sniper. At least they hit what they were shooting at.

In other news. Quebec police asking government for a sling shot registry after witnessing this distressing ordeal.
