Default Taking Jet to the vet....

so my almost 1 year old weim is heading to the vet today...not sure what is going on. At first I though he was just very reactive to mosquito bites (My ridgeback is)....we would let him out side and he would come in with welts the size of toonies..mostly on his hind quarters....however, it is now happening at random...not being outside, no mosquito bites etc...just all of a sudden he will swell up in random loonie/toonie sized spots again mostly on his hind quarters.

we have not changed food, treats etc. as well we have done a very thorough search throu out our house and he has not eaten anything or been chewing on anything etc.

Just wondering if anyone has ever experienced this? or have any ideas what it may be. i am worried about my poor little guy...

Default Yes

Had a Viszla that did this , like hives , would go up and down .

Need Chlortriplon , anti histamine ....Likely he has ingested something he is allergic to . Definitely to the vet....

Default Welts

My dog will get them if he eats food with grain or wheat so he now gets rice and lamb or chicken..No problem now..Some dogs have a reaction to the fillers that are used in some dog foods..Hope this helps

Thanks Tbone. My dogs have never had foods with grain in them. Vet thinks it was a strong reaction to skeeters. Can sometimes happen in shorthaired dogs. Thanks everyone

My weim started to get a rash on his belly and groin area recently. Ive read they can be allergic to chicken as well, as he wasnt on any grains at the time. Took him off chicken and the rash went away. We feed him acana pacifica now, fish and potatoes.
