Default Alberta Bakken

Anyone working in the southern Alberta Bakken play? From the looks of things it could mean an Oil boom in the far south, drilling rigs are showing up everywere, as are Frac companies. Wondering who is hitting the mother load? Shell, Murphy, Cresent Point, Legacy, Bow Wood and Dee Three all seem to be working through the weather. Huge Oil reserves?

It is my understanding that the Bakken oil play is not in alberta. It is a southern sask down through the dakotas type of play. I am not aware of any bakken play here.

why does this map, and any other I have seen show absolutely no "bakken" deposit here then?

http://geology.com/usgs/bakken-formation-oil.shtml

Can anyone show me where there is map that shows the Bakken deposit comes into alberta?

I stand corrected(by myself).

http://www.beatingtheindex.com/the-a...thern-alberta/

It seems as though a deposit similar to the Bakken is being explored here. It is a different deposit from the original Bakken, which is why I was confused. Looks like the taber-milk river area may be a big boom coming up. According to this website developement seems to be just starting.

that's true...it has similar properties to the B. and they're hoping with the enhanced recovery systems being used now in the Bakken and the Cardium, it will play out as well...or...

Govt has known it was there since 1983. Lease rights sales finished sometime last year. They have been hitting it in Montana for around 10 years. Horizontal drilling and Frac technology have come along way. Murphy's Propane fracing, Shells water fracing, Dee Three oil frac, have not been able to find what they are producing though!

Extremely tight hole...I work for one of the Co's drilling there and can't get any info. except that the wells drilled to date are "good ones"...some good investment opps. here with Bowood and Wildstream I believe, as production #'s get released these small guys should pop a bit...

That is good news indeed.

I thought extremely tight formations where hard to frac; is that correct or not?
Or did you mean that the data and info on the hole is a closely quarded secret?
