Default throwing sheds

I also used to make a practice of throwing sheds that I have found ahead of me to keep my eye sharp. That all changed last year when i threw the largest fresh shed that i had found all year(underhanded, not hard) and heard a "SNAP" as it landed in a shallow snow bank. When i retrieved the antler I was surprised to find out that the brow tine had broken off even with the main beam.I then could not find the piece that had broken off.OUCH!

We got out today for a few hours, we managed to find 13 in total. A couple of small ones, 3 sets, and one old monster. It was a great day filled with lots of memories.

I got out on Friday, and found 3 whitetail sheds, all old, then got out today with the pup and found 2 sets and a single in a new area. 4 for me, 1 for the pup. I'll try to post pics soon.

Got two weeks worth of sheds here. The first is from April 16 weekend in WMU 348, which was extremely difficult because of the fresh snow we had gotten, I found 4 and my dad found 2 but no monsters. Then last weekend we did real good in the northern zones, i found 8 and my dad 9, one of his was a real nice 72 1/8 shed, from a buck that we have 2 years of trail cam pics of (very top shed in pic). My best was a heavy set that scored 138 6/8, last year i found the bucks right side and found the left side this weekend.

Snuck out today for a bit with a good buddy and his daughter and we came up with 11 sheds. Some smaller ones and one nice set. Came across a bunch of winter kills. The most I have seen in one area.

Got out tonight for the first time in a long time. Went looking for the droptine match, no luck but did find 1 fresh shed and 4 moose sheds (1 fresh, 3 old). Going to give it a try tomorrow morning again.

Default Big set

After i found my personal biggest fresh shed last year at nearly 74inches as a four point i searched very hard to find the other side but never had any luck this year my dad ended up finding it about 1km away is some long grass finally got it matched up and it is my favorite set to date with its massive bases and tine lenghth hopefull we find his sheds this year. I will score him when i get some time but i am thinking he will go mid to high 160s i am thinking 168"

Went out for a few hours with my dad and 4-yr old daughter on Easter Sunday. My Dad lent us his quad and he set out on foot. Between the 3 of us, we didn't find much (4 old ones) , but my girl had fun bombin' around on the quad and seeing some deer.

Shaelynn's first of the year

I wish... unfortunately someone else has got to a few of my spots before me, and my Dad has found about 3x what I have this year (must be nice to have all that time off, Dad).

Thanks BB, that's what I'm hoping. She seems to like all the aspects of hunting so far... except her allergy to deer hair!

I am allergic to deer hair, have been for all my life but my allergy has gotten better in the last few years. There is afew things I have done differently that might hbelp your daughter. Stay awa from milk - dairy may make it worse. Don't drink too much orange juice, ik love orange juice but the pulp isnt good. And finally have a pet in the house like a cat, this soundsa kinda weird but before I lived with my wife , my allergies were really bad. She had 2 cats at first I reacted quite a bit BUT now I feel being exposed to allergins all year helpsout deer hunting. Its only been in the last couple years I could actually get in and help gut my deer. Luckly my brothers and father have been awsome and done it for me in the past. Also, everyone has been great and if we get something all clothes that were worn during gutting or pictures are placed in the box of the truck just to be safe and clean.

I hope this may help the 2 of you get out and hunt together.

Thanks for the advice, addicted. We do go hunting together, she just can't handle the deer much.

Just so there is no confusion, I got the sheds mounted on a cape a few yrs after i picked them up. Bolted them together, judged the inside spread and put a cape on

Went out again for a few hours today. The quads had covered pretty much all of the hills and open area... so I stuck to the bush and made out ok. My new personal best for 1 day, 17 mulie sheds and 1 moose although none are too big, I like the numbers. The surprising thing is that they are all singles, no matches at all.

If only it were always this easy...

a couple of the bigger ones...

the total...

Default Big Guy

I found this deers left shed in January and finally found his other side Monday after some snow had melted. I have lots of trail cam pics of him and spent lots of time on stand and have yet to see him in person. Any guesses on gross score? He has 9 scoreable points on left and 6 on right. He also broke off about 8" including his matching drop tine on left side.
